Rest in Peace, Waxy
We’re absolutely gutted.
We just found out that our friend, our industry brother, our fierce advocate, and all-around legend Daniel “Waxy” Jones is gone.
We saw him Thursday at Doobies, picking up Bis for the Hemporium—his creation, his craft. Because as we’ve always said… Craft knows Craft. And Waxy? He was the craft.
It doesn’t feel real. It fucking hurts.
Daniel wasn’t just a hemp guy. He was a cannabis warrior in full—a relentless, brilliant, unstoppable force fighting for the plant, for the people, for what was right. He didn’t toe the line—he redrew it, every damn time it needed redrawing.
He stood up for patients. He stood up for small farms. He stood up when others stayed silent. He brought poetry to protest, soul to science, and fire to every table he sat at.
He was a Navy vet who carried the weight of service—a responder to the USS Cole. He shared that brotherhood with Kara, and with everyone who’s ever walked that path of duty and aftermath.
We didn’t just lose a friend. We lost a lighthouse. A compass. A one-of-a-kind mind with a heart just as big.
At Slaphappy, we’re heartbroken. We’re mourning. We’re remembering. And we’re promising—
\ we’ll carry what you taught us, Waxy. We’ll carry it loud.
We love you, brother.
The Hemporium will always carry your spirit in every can, every shelf, every laugh.
We hope you were stoned when Jesus took you home.
Fair winds and flowing seas, brother.
